Banffshire and Buchan Coast does not currently do well out of its elected parliamentary representatives . Whether one-trick Brexiteers or one-track Nationalists, these are, first and foremost, loyal footsoldiers of a Leadership whose concern is elsewhere, whether in the heartlands of England or Scotland’s central belt.

This coastline, Banffshire and Buchan – its unique culture, economy and history, is of minimal interest to either a Tory or Nationalist Leader unless he or she is trying to score points off the other.

This constituency will be the scene of a dogfight in 2021. Conservatives need to look as if they actually care about the Union, and The Nationalists want a nice tidy clean sweep.

Banffshire and Buchan Voters deserve a credible, capable local candidate who cares about serving the place and its people, rather than simply using them as a backdrop.
